Though in Bible times women were not as highly esteemed as men, there still was the possibility of women have a high calling and service among God's people.  Though lightly esteemed by men, two women, were esteemed by the LORD for a special purpose. God has placed in His word, women who could be great examples for women of our time to be used bravely in our present station.  These two women were the Prophetess Deborah in the book of Judges, and Queen Esther in the book of Ester.

Esther was created to be a deliverer, a woman, a wife.  Lady Esther was the instrument that
the LORD used to save the Jewish people.  She was a woman of a meek and quiet spirit (1Peter 3:4), but still she in her meekness was very powerful.  Though such things as beauty, chastity, and humility are not seen as a powerful point of view, these qualities were a winning combination for Esther.  Through these gifts of God she was able to secure safety for herself and the people she loved. It was for her outward beauty and beautiful spirit that she found favor with the king.

  • Esther 2:17  And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen.

She showed Her humility, in addressing the King with such words as:  "if it seem good to the king" and did not strive with her Lord.  Then she favored him with food in a banquet.  As we should favor God with a banqueting spirit.  (His banner over us will be Love as in  Song of Solomon)
