The Prophetess Noadiah
Even when the people of God were straying from God's plan, women were reckoned in the leadership of the people. As Nehemiah was endeavoring to cause the people to finish the wall of Jerusalem that began years earlier, their were many who would prevent the job from being finished.
There was much controversy stirred up as well as violence. Enemies of the people were constantly trying to deceive Nehemiah to prevent the success of this undertaking.
Nehemiah: 6:14: My God, think thou upon Tobiah and Sanballat according to these their works, and on the prophetess Noadiah, and the rest of the prophets, that would have put me in fear.
Notice the phrase: the rest of the prophets; this indicated that Noadiah was fellow among them, or equal in the power of the Spirit, with the male prophets. Unfortunately she was also equal in their crime and went down with the historical record of the Bible as one working against God's plan, people and leader. As with the rest, Nehemiah brought his supplication before God including her as an enemy.
To her credit, we must also note that hers was the only name mentioned among the prophets. None of the other prophets names were mentioned which seem to give here a little more advantage in importance.
As you minister, remember that there are always people around to hinder the work of God.
