Suffering in Love
James: 5:10: Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.
Though many dread the though of suffering, the Bible is full of examples of the suffering of God's People.
They suffered in order to be clean, because of their great treachery toward the Lord. They were made captives, and brought back home again. Many even died on the battlefield. The leaders of Israel also suffered especially the prophets. They suffered mostly at the hands of the people of God, themselves, and at God's hands.
Ezekiel had to lie on one side many days for an example of the siege that was to come. Acts: 9:16: For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.
Jeremiah was thrown in the dungeon.
Isaiah was flogged.
Jesus said of the Apostle Peter, men will bind and take you where you don't want to go.
He said of the Apostle Paul;
Jesus Himself, died on Calvary.
Though we dread suffering, the scripture says it brings us forth as Gold. Gold being the color of deity, one could say it brings us close to God by making us like God. We come forth pure in our trials and perfected. We must equip ourselves as women in the army of the Almighty, learning in this time to draw nearer to Him. Equipped with the mind of Christ.
It is like an embracing love affair mixed with many tears. We find the reality and character of God in the valley low, and He is there in the midst of our suffering.
